Vandenberg Wreck

Key West water adventuresVenture in and out of the accessible compartments of this magnificently preserved underwater WWII era Navy ship.  The Gen. Hoyt S. Vandenberg, at 524 feet long and 10 stories high, is the second largest artificial reef in the world! Enjoy schools of fish, barracuda, and small sharks as you investigate the ins and outs of this deep sea jungle gym. Located only 7 miles offshore in 140 feet of water, with top areas of the ship only 40 feet deep, the Vandenberg Wreck is definitely the best diving in Key West for all skill levels.

Alexander's Wreck

Key West snorkelingAlexander's Wreck is a 300-foot US Navy destroyer escort that was purchased from the Navy to form an artificial reef. The remains of this ship now lie in 25 feet of water five miles west of Key West. Divers occasionally will find military artifacts, and deck guns from its past military use are still visible. The area is also a thriving center for ocean-life and is known for its population of protected Goliath Grouper.

Ten-Fathom Bar

diving in Key WestThis is one of the few mini-wall dives in Florida. The wall begins at 25 feet and drops quickly down to 130 feet. The water is generally clear and full of porcupine fish, eagle rays spiny lobster, and colorful tropical fish. This is a popular location for diving in Key West, and the fish are so friendly that grouper tend to approach divers for treats!
